Mountain West Conference Announces 2008-09 Men's Basketball Television Schedule
Package includes at least 100 nationally-televised contests
Sept. 24, 2008
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The Mountain West Conference announced its 2008-09 men's basketball television schedule today. This season's slate features a minimum of 100 games on national television, with at least 75 broadcasts on The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network, 17 on CBS College Sports Network and eight on VERSUS. Sixty-four of the 72 conference match-ups, and all eight MWC Championship contests are included in the television package. The Conference anticipates adding more non-conference road appearances and game times to the broadcast schedule once those are determined by the television partners of MWC opponents.
The Mountain West Conference will begin its 10th season of basketball competition on Friday, November 14 with a six-game schedule. Conference play tips off Saturday, January 3, 2009, with San Diego State at Air Force, Colorado State at TCU, New Mexico at UNLV and Wyoming at Utah.
Now in its third year, The Mtn. was the first 24-hour sports network devoted exclusively to a single conference. In addition to live game coverage, fans get a comprehensive array of news, features, and analysis about their favorite MWC teams and players. The Mtn.'s anchors and reporters provide viewers with extensive pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage, and weekly and seasonal analysis and wrap-ups. The Mtn. also takes fans off the court and behind the scenes with coverage of the latest stats, press conferences, coaching developments, student-athlete features and more.
Currently, The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV (Channel 616) and 29 cable operators representing over 200 municipalities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. CBS College Sports Network (Channel 613) and VERSUS (Channel 603) are also available nationally on DIRECTV.
