Henson Makes Top 25 List
UNLV aide recognized as one of the 25 best assistant coaches in the country by Rivals.com.
June 4, 2007 LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's basketball assistant coach Steve Henson has been recognized as one of the top 25 assistant coaches in the country by Rivals.com. Henson was part of the top 25, which was made up of collegiate men's basketball assistant coaches known for being the best in the game because of their recruiting ability and knowledge of the game. "Steve represents a group of assistant coaches for us that I think are as good as any in the country," said UNLV head coach Lon Kruger. "Their devotion to the student-athletes, not only on the court, but off of it, is very genuine and they work very hard to help each realize their potential." Henson is entering his fourth year as part of UNLV head coach Lon Kruger's staff. Last season the Runnin' Rebels won the Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship, finished with a 30-7 overall record and made a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearance - the program's first in 16 years. Additionally, UNLV was 19-1 at home in 2006-07, including ending the season with 17 straight wins at the Thomas & Mack Center, which ties for the 10th-longest active streak in the country. UNLV was ranked 14th in the nation in the final edition of the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.
