Feb. 27, 2012
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior guard J.R. Cadot has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through February 26. This is the first career weekly accolade for Cadot.
Cadot recorded back-to-back double-doubles in wins at Air Force and at home against No. 18/21 New Mexico last week, leading TCU in scoring and rebounding in both contests. In Wednesday's 65-62 come-from-behind victory at Air Force, the senior guard netted 16 points and matched a career-best with 13 rebounds to help TCU snap a 15-game Conference road losing streak. He added three steals and one assist while going 5-of-10 from the field. Cadot followed that performance with a 6-of-10 effort from the field while tying for a game-high 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in Saturday's 83-64 victory over the Lobos. He also had two steals, one assist and one block as TCU recorded its second straight home win against a top-20 opponent. For the week, he averaged 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 55 percent (11-of-20) from the field and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line. Fourteen of his 23 rebounds were on the offensive end.
