Mountain West Announces Men's Basketball Player of the Week UNLV sophomore forward Mike Moser garners third career weekly honor
Jan. 30, 2012 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore forward Mike Moser has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 29. This is the third career weekly accolade for Moser. Moser led No. 12 UNLV in back-to-back overtime road victories at Boise State and Air Force last week. In Wednesday's 77-72 victory over the Broncos, Moser tallied 14 points and 14 rebounds after halftime, and blocked Thomas Bropleh's potential game-winning 3-point attempt with one second left in regulation to force overtime. He finished with a team-best 18 points and career-high 21 rebounds while adding two assists, two steals and two blocks in 34 minutes of action. On Saturday against Air Force, Moser's free throw with 1:30 left in overtime gave UNLV a 65-61 lead and the Runnin' Rebels held on for the two-point win (65-63). He went 10-of-17 (.588) from the field while leading all scorers with 27 points, and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go with three steals and two assists in 38 minutes of play. For the week, Moser averaged 22.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from the field and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the free throw line.
