Entire MW Men's Basketball Schedule to Play Out on Television Top-25 tilt between No. 12 UNLV-No. 22 SDSU highlights Saturday's MW-opening slate
Jan. 12, 2012 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The race for the 2011-12 Mountain West men's basketball regular-season crown gets underway on Saturday, January 14. Fans will be able to watch the drama unfold from start to finish as NBC Sports Network (formerly VERSUS), CBS Sports Network and The Mtn.-MountainWest Sports Network will combine to broadcast all 56 games of the Conference slate. Saturday's MW-opening schedule is highlighted by a Top-25 match-up pitting No. 12 UNLV (16-2) against No. 22 San Diego State (14-2) at Viejas Arena in San Diego (1 p.m. PT, NBCSN). The UNLV-SDSU contest is the first of seven MW men's basketball games that will air on NBC Sports Network during the regular-season, with all seven featuring at least one team that is currently ranked or receiving votes in the national Top-25 polls. NBC Sports Network, which will also carry the men's and women's championship games of the 2012 Conoco MW Basketball Tournament, reaches more than 75 million homes across the country via numerous cable systems and satellite on DIRECTV (Ch. 603) and Dish Network (Ch. 151). The quest for the MW title officially begins at 1:30 p.m. MT Saturday when preseason favorite New Mexico visits Wyoming in the opening contest of a triple-header on The Mtn. The UNM-UW contest will be followed by Boise State at Air Force (4 p.m. MT) and TCU at Colorado State (7 p.m. MT). In total, The Mtn. will televise 39 MW men's basketball games, as well as the quarterfinals of the MW Tournament. The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV (Ch. 616) and on numerous cable operators throughout the country. Of the 10 remaining MW men's basketball match-ups, nine will air on CBS Sports Network, while one, a February 18 meeting between UNLV and New Mexico, will be broadcast over-the-air on CBS. In addition to televising the semifinals of the MW Tournament, CBS Sports Network will also simulcast two quarterfinal contests. CBS Sports Network is widely available across the nation to approximately 98 million homes through local cable operations and via satellite on DIRECTV (Ch. 513) and Dish Network (Ch. 152).
