The home team posted a 3-1 record during the second week of conference play. New Mexico, San Diego State and TCU defended home court with their wins. The Lobos defeated Air Force (78-53), while the Aztecs beat Utah (72-63 and the Horned Frogs upset UNLV (80-73). BYU tallied the lone road victory with its win at Colorado State (86-60). Conference play continues Tuesday, January 13, with BYU hosting TCU. 

BYU 86, Colorado State 60

  • With 15 points against Colorado State Jimmer Fredette extended his team-best streak of consecutive games in double figures to 10.
  • The Cougars won their first conference road opener since 2003 (San Diego State, 80-69). BYU had lost its previous six league road openers.
  • BYU shot 57.1 percent from the field (36-for-63), including a 58.6 (17-for-29)percentage in the second half.
  • Lee Cummard scored a game-high 18 points on 8-10 shooting.
  • Over a 15 minute span at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half, the Cougars outscored the Rams 45-16 and led by as many as 37 points.
  • Andy Ogide and Marcus Walker led Colorado State with 12 points apiece.
  • CSU shot a season-low 34.5 percent (20-for 58)from the field.

TCU 80, UNLV 73

  • TCU connected on 56.6 percent of their field goal attempts and dished out 20 assists, while only collecting a season-low eight turnovers vs. UNLV.
  • TCU hit 14-of-22 shots from the field in the second half.
  • Zvonko Buljan tallied his third straight double-double performance with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Kevin Langford became the 29th player in TCU history to eclipse the 1,000-point threshold. He scored nine points on the night.
  • UNLV shot 15-for 34 (44.1 percent) from three-point range.
  • Joe Darger led the Rebels with 15 points.

San Diego State 72, Utah 63
San Diego, Calif. Sat., January 10, 2008

  • San Diego State won its fifth consecutive game, matching its season-long winning streak. The Aztecs have not trailed during the second half of any game during the five-game winning streak.
  • San Diego State is 12-3 after 15 games, matching its best record after 15 games in the Division I era (39 seasons).
  • San Diego State improves to 2-0 in conference play for the fifth time in the last seven seasons.
  • San Diego State held Utah to 63 points, 10.9 points below its season average of 73.9.
  • The backcourt of Richie Williams and D.J. Gay did not record a turnover in a combined 65 minutes of play, while picking up five steals together. It was the first time the duo played a game together without recording a turnover.
  • Luke Nevill scored 17 points, reaching double figures for the 16th time in as many games this year. He has now reached double figures 90 times in 107 career games.
  • Holding SDSU to 41.9% shooting (26-of-62), Utah still has not allowed any opponent to shoot 50% in a game this year. The Utes have now held six straight opponents under 42%.

New Mexico 78, Air Force 53

  • New Mexico recorded its biggest margin of victory over Air Force since a 92-59 victory in The Pit on Jan. 3, 1990. New Mexico has recorded three straight wins over Air Force for the first time since a seven-game run between 1996-2001.
  • New Mexico shot 54.3% (25-46) from the floor.
  • The Lobos' 78 points were the most scored against the Falcons this season.
  • The Lobos have now won 26 straight games when allowing less than 60 points and are 47-2 in such games since 2004-05 .
  • Phillip McDonald and Tony Danridge scored 15 points apiece for New Mexico.
  • Air Force's Evan Washington tied his career high with eight rebounds.
  • AFA's 25-point loss was the largest against a Mountain West opponent since losing 65-33 at BYU on Feb. 3, 2003.
  • Air Force lost for the first time this season when outrebounding its opponent.
