Mountain West Announces Men's Basketball Player of the Week

TCU sophomore guard Amric Fields collects first career weekly honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore guard Amric Fields has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 8. This is the first career weekly accolade for Fields.

Fields registered a season-high 18 points and matched a career-best with six rebounds while leading TCU to a 78-74 victory over Rice last Wednesday. The sophomore guard made 7-of-11 (.636) field-goal attempts, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range, while adding two assists, two steals and one blocked shot in 22 minutes of action off the bench. He scored five of the Horned Frogs' final nine points, hitting a 3-pointer to give TCU a three-point edge (72-69) at the 1:30 mark before adding two free throws on the following possession to push the Frogs' advantage to five (74-69) with less than a minute remaining. Fields scored 11 of his 18 points in the second half.
