BYU Tops Eastern Washington, 97-66 The Cougars shot 64 percent compared to the Eagles' 37 percent.
Dec. 27, 2005 PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Keena Young scored 15 points and had eight rebounds to lead Brigham Young to a 97-66 victory over Eastern Washington Tuesday night. BYU (7-3) outscored the Eagles 18-4 to start the game, including six points by Fernando Malaman during a 14-0 run, and the Cougars were not seriously threatened the rest of the way. Late in the first half, EWU (5-6) pulled within 10 at 38-28 on a 6-0 run capped by a Rodney Stuckey jumper, but the Cougars finished the half outscoring the Eagles 15-4 and took a 53-34 halftime lead. The Cougars stretched the lead to 36 points with six minutes remaining in the game on a basket by Lee Cummard. Stuckey led all scorers with 19 points and was joined in double figures by teammates Kellen Williams with 15 and Matt Penoncello with 12. Joining Young in double figures were Malaman with 14 points, Brock Reichner and Mike Rose with 12 each and Trent Plaisted and Jimmy Balderson with 11 each. The Cougars shot 64 percent compared to the Eagles' 37 percent.
