Minnesota Too Much for Colorado State Willis Gardner scored 19 points to lead the Rams
Dec. 8, 2007 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Dan Coleman scored 22 points and Blake Hoffarber came off the bench for a career-high 21 to lead Minnesota to a 91-74 win over Colorado State. Coleman surpassed 1,000 points in his four-year career and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Spencer Tollackson made six of eight field goal attempts and finished with 16 points for the Gophers. It was the first time the Gophers (6-1) surpassed 90 points since a 93-67 win over Loyola-Marymount on Jan. 3, 2005. Hoffarber was part of a fresh five-man lineup that coach Tubby Smith used to replace his starters midway through the first half with the Gophers leading 13-7. The reserves turned up the defensive pressure, forcing the Rams into poor shots and even worse passes. Jonathan Williams punctuated the 9-2 run with a steal and a two-handed dunk for a 22-9 Minnesota lead. After the Rams (5-4) scored the next six points, Smith sent the second five back in, and Hoffarber responded by nailing a pair of 3-pointers. Al Nolen's two baskets and a free throw made it 33-17 and the rout was on. Willis Gardner scored 19 points to lead the Rams.
