Dec. 3, 2005

Stats

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- Jamaal Tatum scored 20 points, including eight in the final 10 minutes, as Southern Illinois overcame a double-digit deficit to beat Wyoming 57-53 on Saturday.

Tatum scored four straight points to start a 7-0 second-half run that brought the Salukis (3-3 overall) within 40-38. They took their first lead of the half after Tony Young's 3-pointer made the score 46-44 with 3:35 to go.

Wyoming (3-3) never trailed by more than five points the entire game, and James Ebert's 3-pointer with 9 seconds left brought the Cowboys within 55-53.

A traveling call on Matt Shaw of Southern Illinois with 8.3 seconds gave Wyoming a chance to tie, but a Cowboys' turnover and foul set up two free-throws for Shaw, who hit both for the final score.

Shaw finished with 12 points, and Randal Falker added 11 for Southern Illinois.

No Wyoming player scored in double-figures. Ebert led the Cowboys with 9 points. Justin Williams had eight blocked shots.

Wyoming hit just 10 of 21 foul shots for the game. The Salukis made 19 of 27 free throws.

The Cowboys led 28-22 at halftime after shooting better than 66 percent from the 3-point line and 52 percent from the field.

Southern Illinois outscored Wyoming 8-4 to start the game, but the Cowboys went on a 13-0 run to make it 17-8 with 9:07 left in the half.

After that, Wyoming never trailed again in the first half.
