Rebels Hold Off Eastern Washington, 82-79 White posts 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Wendell White scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead UNLV past Eastern Washington 82-79 Tuesday. White had 16 first-half points and Wink Adams added 14 for UNLV. Rodney Stuckey led Eastern Washington (0-2) with a game-high 25 points. He also went 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. Matt Penoncello added 13 points for the Eagles. After the Rebels built their largest lead at 67-52 with 7:32 left in the game, the Eagles went on an 18-3 run to tie it on Stuckey's 3-pointer with 2:42 left. But UNLV scored the next five points, including Adams' 3-point play with 1:55 left, and led the rest of the way. The Eagles had a chance to tie in the closing seconds, but could not get a shot off. Joe Darger had 12 points for the winners, while Michael Umeh added 11. UNLV opened the season against Hawaii winning 73-59 at home Friday, while Eastern Washington lost to Gonzaga 90-75 Friday in Spokane, Wash.
