Ewing's Sizzling Second Half Helps Cowboys Top Utes, 86-78 Jones and Spencer chip in 19 and 16 points, respectively.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Brandon Ewing scored 28 points -- 26 of them in the second half -- to help Wyoming beat Utah 86-78 on Wednesday. Utah tied the game 62-62 with 7:28 left on a 3-pointer by Ricky Johns, but Wyoming got ahead with a six-point run and kept out of reach until the end. After Ewing, Brad Jones scored 19 points and James Spencer 16 for the Cowboys (15-12, 6-7 Mountain West Conference). Utah (9-17, 4-9) was led by Johnnie Bryant's 26 points. Lawrence Borha added 13, Daniel Deane 12 and Shaun Green 11. The Utes were without leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker Luke Nevill, who injured his hip Monday. Nevill has been averaging 17 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
