Stats

PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Keena Young scored a career-high 17 points, hitting two free throws with 23 seconds remaining to help Brigham Young hold off UNLV 75-72 Saturday.

The Cougars (15-7, 7-4 Mountain West) clinched it when the Rebels (13-9, 7-3) missed two 3-pointers in the final five seconds.

Young gave BYU a 73-67 on a steal and layup with 2:32 remaining, but UNLV scored the next five points. Curtis Terry made a 3-pointer and Jo'Van Adams added two free throws with 1:24 left in the game, setting up the dramatic finish.

But Young drew a foul with 23 seconds left and hit both shots and the Rebels had two chances to tie it, but Adams and Jason Petrimoulx both missed from beyond-the-arc.

Trent Plaisted added 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Jimmy Balderson also scored 16 and Brock Reichner finished with 11 points for the Cougars.

Petrimoulx led UNLV with 27 points. Louis Amundson had 16 points, seven assists and three blocks and Terry finished with 14 points for the Rebels, who were 15-for-28 from the floor in the second half.
