Air Force Flys Past Texas-Pan American, 84-51 Falcons struggle early, but make it 20 straight home wins.
Jan. 5, 2005 AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - Dan Nwaelele scored 17 points Wednesday night to lead Air Force to an 84-51 win over the University of Texas Pan American. The Air Force (9-5) struggled to match up against Texas Pan American (7-7) early in the first half. A dunk by the Broncos' Alvaidas Gedminas with 7:15 left in the first half tied the game at 19. But Nwaelele's layup sparked a 10-2 run as Air Force took a 37-29 lead at halftime. Air Force created 19 turnovers, including 12 steals, while committing only four, and scored 30 points off turnovers compared with Texas Pan Am's 2 points. Tim Keller led the Falcons with a career-high four steals In the second half as Air Force opened the half with a 19-0 run. The loss was Texas Pan American's fourth straight. The Broncs are 0-6 on the road this season. The win was Air Force's 20th straight at home. Matt Berry was the only Texas Pan American player in double figures with 10 points. Gedminas finished with 9 points.
