Utah's C.J. Cron Named Baseball America Freshman All-American
June 30, 2009 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah catcher/designated hitter C.J. Cron garnered another national accolade as he was named to the 2009 Baseball America Freshman All-America team announced today by Baseball America. Cron, a second team recipient, has also been named Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Louisville Slugger this season. Cron, from Phoenix, Ariz., hit .337 overall with MWC freshman-best totals of 11 home runs, 58 RBI, 83 hits and 137 total bases. In league games, the 2009 MWC Freshman of the Year was tied for second in doubles (9), fifth in RBI (25) and tied for seventh in total bases (58), while also totaling four home runs. Cron was also named to the MWC All-Tournament team. In the NCAA Fullerton Regional, he hit two home runs and drove in six runs in four games played.
