COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior shortstop Ryan Khoury was named District 8 Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Friday (June 9).

Khoury, the 2006 MWC Player of the Year, led the MWC in batting average (.438), on-base percentage (.549) and hits (98), and was second in the league in slugging percentage (.728), runs scored (73) and walks (39). He also ranked in the top-five in doubles (18), total bases (163) and stolen bases (16). Khoury broke the all-time MWC single-season record for batting average and on-base percentage. He also broke the Utah school record for hits in a career earlier this season. Khoury finished his career with 291 career hits, which ranks second all-time in MWC history.
