LAS VEGAS - UNLV baseball assistant coaches Scott Malone and Nate Yeskie will not return for the 2008 season, Rebel head coach Buddy Gouldsmith announced Monday.

Malone was the Rebels' hitting coach and recruiting coordinator while Yeskie served as the team's pitching coach, and both joined Gouldsmith's staff during the 2003-04 academic year and spent three years with the Rebels. Malone came to Las Vegas from the University of Texas-Arlington while this was Yeskie's first collegiate coaching position. UNLV ended this past season with an overall record of 24-36.

"I certainly want to thank Scott and Nate for all of their effort and hard work over the past three years," Gouldsmith said. "I hold both of them in the highest regard and I know I speak for everyone in the Rebel baseball family in wishing them great success in all their future endeavors."

A national search will now begin to complete the UNLV coaching staff.
