BYU's Craig Named Academic All-American Craig had a 10-2 record with a 2.94 earned run average and a 2.82 cumulative grade point average in exercise science.
May 29, 2007 PROVO, Utah - Pitcher Jesse Craig of BYU was named today to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Baseball Third Team. Craig, who had a 10-2 record with a 2.94 earned run average and a 2.82 cumulative grade point average in exercise science, was selected to the honor by CoSida (College Sports Information Directors of America). Last week the senior from Las Vegas was named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-MWC. He was twice named MWC Pitcher of the Week and selected to the District VIII Academic team by CoSida. Craig had four complete games, including two shutouts in 125.1 innings, striking out 86 with an on-base percentage of .276. The righthander did not walk a batter in six of his 20 appearances this season. He helped the Cougars tally a 3.88 team ERA, the best in 24 years at BYU. For his two-year BYU career he posted a 17-9 record with a 3.74 ERA. Craig was the only baseball player selected to the Academic All- America honor in the MWC.
