BYU Women's Cross Country Team Finishes Eighth At NCAA Cross Country Championships Colorado State finishes 26th
Nov. 22, 2004 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 11th-ranked BYU women's cross country team finished eighth at the 2004 NCAA Cross Country National Championships today at Indiana State University's LaVern Gibson Championship Course at The Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. No. 26 Colorado State finished the championship in 26th place. BYU earned its eighth-place finish after placing all of its scoring runners in the top-105, including three runners in the top-60. The Cougars compiled a total score of 293 points. MWC Runner of the Year Laura Turner paced BYU, finishing the 6K course fourth overall (out of 250 runners) in 20:37.5. Senior Rena Chesser was the next Cougar to finish the race and 37th overall in 21:21.5, followed by freshman Heidi Magill, who finished 58th (21:47.5). Freshman Julie Cameron and sophomore Amber Harper concluded the team scoring for BYU, finishing 89th (22:10.5) and 105th (22:17.5), respectively. Led by junior Danielle Korb, No. 26 Colorado State finished 26th. Korb finished 76th overall with a time of 21:59.8, while junior Nicole Feest (110th, 22:19.4), sophomore Linnea Pudwell (119th, 22:22.4) and seniors Michelle Carman (150th, 22:47.8) and Colleen Blair (180th, 23:09.6) rounded out the scoring for the Rams. Individually, New Mexico's Jacquelyne Gallegos finished 69th in 21:38.4, while Wyoming's Jennifer Thompson crossed the finish line 70th (21:39.2) and Utah's Elise Greenwood-Bahr finished 79th (21:45.1). Colorado won the women's team title, while Kim Smith from Providence took home the individual crown in 20:09.0.
