Utah Junior, Teren Jameson, competes at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 20, in Ames, Iowa. He is fresh off a fourth place finish at the Mt. Regional Championships that automatically qualified him for the NCAA Championships.

Over the course of the cross country season, Jameson has completed some impressive races. He finished first at the Idaho State and Colorado State Invitationals. At the Roy Griak meet, Jameson finished in the top-25 among the best runners in the country.

At the Pre-NCAA meet, Jameson finished 40th overall. This meet is the preview for the NCAA Championships because it is held on the same course. When asked if he can finish in the top-30 to earn All-America status, Jameson simply smiles.

The truth is that Jameson is running the best he has all year. During his last two races, he finished an impressive third and fourth overall. At the MWC Championships, he finished third behind John Hedengren of BYU by five seconds, and then next week, at the Mt. Regionals, beat him by seven seconds. The most impressive feat so far for Jameson is that he beat 10 runners at the Mt. Regional Championships that had previously beat him at the Pre-NCAA meet.

Looking at the turnarounds, the outlook for the NCAA Championships is very optimistic. "I finished 40th at the Pre-NCAA meet, but I need to finish in the top-30 to earn All-America status. Besides qualifying for the NCAA Championships, becoming an All-American is my ultimate goal for the season. I need to get off to a good start, stay with the lead pack and use my kick to push me across the finish line in order to finish in the top-30," tells Jameson.

Overall Teren Jameson has met his expectations for the cross country season, but one thing may still be missing--the chance to call himself a Cross Country All-American.

Jameson is a native of Taylorsville, Utah, and is majoring in Electrical Engineering. He credits his dad, David, with being his number one fan.
