Mountain West Conference Sends Three Schools To NCAA Cross Country Championships Event to take place Nov. 20 in Ames, Iowa.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference will be represented by three of it's member schools and three individuals at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Nov. 20, at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. On the women's side, No. 3 BYU looks to defend their national title. The Cougars finished second at the NCAA Mountain Regionals, Nov. 11, with three of their top seven runners sitting out to prepare for Nationals. The 2nd-place finish earned BYU an automatic invitation to the National Championship. No. 21 Colorado State finished third and received an at-large bid to the Championship. Katie Barto, a senior from UNLV, finished 6th out of 192 total runners in the West Region to earn an automatic invitation to the National Championship as well. On the men's side, No. 7 BYU also finished second at Regionals for an automatic bid. Joining the Cougars at the National Championship will be No. 21 Colorado State and No. 31 Air Force, both teams receiving at-large invitations. Individuals also represent the conference from Utah and Wyoming. Junior Teren Jameson of Utah finished fourth at Regionals and individually qualified for the National Championship as did Wyoming senior Joe Hall, who finished ninth overall out of a field of 116 runners.
The NCAA Cross County Championships will feature 31 men's teams, 31 women's teams and 38 individuals on each side. The women's 6K race begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's 10K race at 12:15 p.m.
