Mountain West Cross Country Teams Competing At NCAA Regionals

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Five Mountain West men's and seven women's cross country teams will compete at NCAA Regionals on Friday, Nov. 9. The top two teams from each of the nine regions, as well as 13 at-large teams from around the country, will advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17, in Louisville, Ky. The top four runners not associated with qualifying teams will also advance as individuals with the opportunity for two individuals to be selected at-large. All teams and individuals advancing to the NCAA National Championships will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico and Wyoming, along with the Nevada women's team, are set to compete at the Mountain Regional in Fort Collins, Colo. Hosted by Colorado State, the meet will take place at Collindale Golf Course with the women's 6,000-meter race beginning at noon MT, followed by the men's 10,000-meter race at 1 p.m. MT.
Boise State and San Diego State will compete at the West Regional in Seattle, Wash. The Broncos and Aztecs will compete in the women's 6K event at noon PT, while the Bronco men's team will participate in the 10K race at 1:15 p.m. PT. The races, which are hosted by the University of Washington, will take place at the Jefferson Park Golf Course.
The New Mexico men's and women's cross country teams claimed the 2012 Mountain West Cross Country Championships. For the fourth year in a row, UNM captured the men's title with 22 points, while the Lobo women earned their fifth-straight title with a total of 35 points.
