Mountain West Announces Cross Country Athletes of the Week - October 16, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State senior Barak Watson and New Mexico junior Sean Stam have earned Mountain West Men's Cross Country Co-Athlete of the Week honors for races contested from Oct. 8-14, 2012. New Mexico senior Josephine Moultrie has been named the MW Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the same time period. It is the second Mountain West honor for Moultrie this season and the first weekly honor for Watson and Stam. Watson, a native of Nampa, Idaho, recorded a career-best time of 23:59 over 8-kilometers in the Pre-Nationals race in Louisville, Ky., last week. Watson was the top Bronco finisher, helping the team to a 13th-place finish. Stam, a native of Rio Ranch, N.M., ran a 23:59 in the 8-kilometer Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison last week. Stam led the No. 12 Lobos to an eighth-place team finish. A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Moultrie posted the fastest time in the Mountain West this season in the women's 6-kilometers with a 19:56 at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational. Moultrie finished ninth overall and led the No. 17 Lobos to an 11th-place team finish.
