COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force Academy sophomore Chris Acs and BYU senior Tara Northcutt have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athlete of the week, respectively.

Acs, a product of Niles, Ohio, helped the Air Force men turn in their strongest showing of the season at the Pre-NCAA meet last weekend in Greenville, S.C. He was the first Falcon to finish the 8K course in 24:56 and 23rd out of 242 runners overall in the men's gold bracket, the strongest of three brackets at the meet. His stellar effort propelled Air Force to a third place finish (out of 36 teams) and a victory over seven of the nation's top-25 teams.

Northcutt earned her second athlete of the week award of the season with her fifth place finish in the women's silver bracket of the Pre-NCAA meet last weekend in Greenville. The two-time All-American's time of 20:57, her best time of the season, led all Cougar women across the finish line as they had four runners finish in the top 20 on the way to a second place finish.

Both Air Force and BYU have the week off to prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championships on October 27 in Albuquerque, N.M.

This week in the MWC: No schools will run this weekend as they prepare for the Mountain West Conference Championships on October 27 in Albuquerque, N.M.
