COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico senior Cameron Clarke and UNLV freshman Jenni Shearer have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week, respectively.

Clarke, from Albuquerque, N.M., placed seventh overall at the Auburn Invitational last Saturday in Auburn, Ala. His time of 24:06.55 in the 8K race is a season-best and his best time since the 2002 season, as the Lobos finished second in the 25-team field.

Shearer, a Fort Wayne, Ind., native, crossed the finish line 11th overall (out of 81 runners) at the UNLV Invitational last Saturday. She clocked in at 19:54.60 in the 5k race to earn the first top-15 finish of her career and help the Rebels to a fifth place finish overall. In her first collegiate season, Shearer has been the top UNLV finisher in every meet this season.
