PROVO, Utah - BYU women's cross country team prepares to sample the MWC competition this weekend as they head to San Diego, Calif. for the MWC Pre-Championship meet.

The women will race Saturday Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. PDT on Morley Field, the site of the 2003 MWC cross country championships. The 6K course will consist of both hills, grass and dirt.

"Most of all this competition lets our runners get face-to-face with the Mountain West competition," BYU women's head coach Patrick Shane said. "Not only that, but this weekend we will have an opportunity to check out the course and be prepared for the MWC Championships."

The No. 1 Cougars are expected to win the competition again this year keeping their domination alive. The women's team has won the MWC Championship title every year since its inception.
