ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico men's and women's cross country teams head to Stillwater, Okla. this Saturday, Oct. 5, for Oklahoma State University's 66th annual Cowboy Jamboree. The Cowboy Jamboree is the oldest consecutive cross country race in the United States, having been run every year since 1936. New Mexico¹s women and 27th-ranked men will battle 21 men¹s and 17 women¹s squads for the team titles. The action gets underway bright and early on Saturday morning with the men's 8K starting at 8:30 a.m. (CDT), followed by the women's 5K at 9:10.

The competition should be intense on the men¹s side with second-ranked Arkansas¹ entering as the favorite. However, the Razorbacks will be challenged by the young Lobos, the 28th-ranked host, Oklahoma State, 2000 Division II national champion Abilene Christian as well as Mountain West Conference squad Air Force. No. 12 Georgetown headlines the women¹s field, followed by 29th-ranked Southwest Missouri State. New Mexico will also square off with Air Force and Texas Tech, which it faced at the UNM Lobo Invitational earlier in the season. The Lobos¹ last appearance at the Cowboy Jamboree was in 1998. The women¹s squad finished eighth out of 15, while the men did not tally a team score with just four runners crossing the finish line.

New Mexico will be running on its shortest rest of the season, just seven days after competing out West in the Stanford Invitational. The team has 14 days between every other meet this year, except for the 11-day period between the NCAA Mountain Region and NCAA Championships in late November.

MEET INFORMATION/RESULTS Complete information from the 66th Cowboy Jamboree can be found on the Oklahoma State University official athletic department website. Team and individual results will be available following the conclusion of the final race at approximately 10 a.m. (MDT).
