COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming junior Mark Korir and San Diego State senior Lisa Naucler have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week.

Korir receives his second athlete of the week honor after breaking the course record at the Montana State Invitational on Sept. 15. The Eldoret, Kenya, native ran the 8K leg in 24:14, beating the previous record of 24:15 set in 2004 by Nate Long of Weber State. Korir finished 22 seconds ahead of Utah State's Seth Wold to capture his second invite win in two chances. The junior's performance led the Cowboys to a fourth place tie with Montana State University on the Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman, Mont.

For the second consecutive week, Naucler, a Ljusdal, Sweden, native, was San Diego State's top finisher. Naucler came in 44th against a field featuring nationally and regionally ranked teams at the Aztec Invitational on Sept. 15. The senior recorded her and the team's second-fastest performance of 2007 with a time of 19:16, leading the Aztecs to an 11th place finish on the 5K Balboa Park course in San Diego, Calif.
