COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU freshman Festus Kigen and Wyoming freshman Emily Higgins have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week.

Kigen, from Eldoret, Kenya, won the individual title at the Texas A&M Invitational last weekend in College Station, Texas. He topped the field of 104 runners with a time of 25:16 in the men's 7,942 meter race, leading the Horned Frogs to a third place team finish.

Higgins finished fourth out of 241 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. The Deaver, Wyoming, native, crossed the finish line in 22:32.70 in the women's 6K event as the Cowgirls finished third in the University Division and fifth overall.
