Sept. 7, 2001
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State University's men's and women's cross country teams are in action Saturday morning, playing host to the Ram Runner's Roost Invitational at Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins. The women's race begins at 9 a.m., with the men to follow. Both squads opened the season in impressive fashion last week, with each squad finishing first with 15 points in the respective team events at the Wyoming Open in Laramie. Meg Larson's first-place finish in 14:00 on the four-kilometer course paced Colorado State's women's team. Larson, junior from Aberdeen, S.D., was named the Mountain West Conference's runner of the week for her performance. Jennifer Kintzley and Katie Yemm were second and third, respectively, behind Larson, as eight of the top 10 finishers were Colorado State runners.
Bill Michel was the men's top finisher in 21:14 on the four-mile
course. Michel, Reagan Robb, Josh Lybarger and Gabe Olchin anchor a
veteran team picked by MWC coaches to win the league title.
