FORT WORTH, Texas - With fall camp ready to start next month, GoFrogs.com recently sat down with junior Jeff Pels to get his thoughts on the upcoming cross country season.

How has your summer been?
"My summer has been awesome. I'm living in Fort Worth for the first time in my new house and it's going really well so far."

What do you expect this fall out of yourself?
"I expect myself to improve upon what I thought was a solid sophomore campaign for me. I also want to assume more of a leadership role on the team. I really think we could use that."

If you could be in one movie, what would it be and why?
"Well, I just saw Transformers 2, so I'd kind of like to be in that."

If you could compete in another sport, what would it be and why?
"I would probably want to compete in sand volleyball. I like to play it during the school year. I'm not too good, but I'm definitely getting better."

What have you been doing this summer to get ready for the fall?
"There is not really a secret formula for success in running. I've just been running and lifting to stay in shape. I've been biking a lot as well to add some variety to my training."

What should cross country fans expect out of the cross country program this fall?
"We are returning everyone from last year and I'm extremely confident. We have a talented group of freshmen coming in as well that have had impressive high school careers. Overall, I think we will definitely turn some heads this season."

What have you done this summer for fun?
"I went to Florida for a week at the beginning of the summer, which was a blast. Other than that I've been having a pretty relaxing summer full of work and a lot of video games. I go to the lake every now and then as well."

Do you have any superstitions before you run? If so, what are they?
"I don't really have any superstitions. I just say the same prayer before every race and listen to the same songs on my iPod."
