U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The NCAA announced its Division I Academic All-America Teams for 2002-2003. The Academy's women's cross country team earned this prestigious honor for the second consecutive year with a combined cumulative GPA of 3.08.

Head Coach Mark Stanforth's women's team concluded one of the best seasons ever at the Academy. The Academy's runners placed sixth in the NCAA Mountain Region, with one runner (C2C Brandess Pardue) earning all-region honors. The team also placed third in the Mountain West Conference, its fourth consecutive top three finish since 1999 and its best conference finish since moving to Division I in 1996.

The women's team also placed six cadet-athletes on the MWC All-Academic team: C1C Elissa Ballas, C2Cs Anne Chumlea and Jean Taylor, C3C Cindy Dawson and C4Cs Vivien Aspden and Andrea Pinchak.

"I'm pleased with the performance of the women's team and I am excited about the future prospects for the team," said Stanforth.
