COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2001 Academic All-Conference team today for the sports of men's and women's cross country. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

Sixty-eight student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2001 for the sports of men's and women's cross country. BYU had the most honorees with 24, followed by Colorado State with 11. Utah was next up with nine, while the Air Force Academy and Wyoming both had eight. Rounding out the list is New Mexico (four), UNLV (three) and San Diego State (one).
