LAS VEGAS - UNLV cross country athletes Ali Ainsworth, Ashley Pierce-Callihan and Katie Hughes were named to the 2005 Academic All-Mountain West Conference Academic, the league announced Wednesday.

Hughes has been named to the team four-consecutive years and the senior from Green Valley High School in Henderson, Nev., has a 3.39 GPA in kinesiology.

This is the second consecutive year that Callihan, a senior from Las Vegas who prepped Silverado High School, earned the accolade. This is the first award for Ainsworth, a freshman from Schuylerville High School in Schuylerville, N.Y.

To be eligible for selection student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member school while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
