TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Utah junior Elise Greenwood-Bahr finished competition at the 2004 NCAA Cross Country Championship race this afternoon. Hosted by Indiana State at the Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course, Greenwood-Bahr capped off a terrific cross country season with a 79th overall finish in the 6K race (21:45.1).

Colorado's took the 2004 National Championship in damp conditions while Kim Smith of Providence College won the individual title.

Greenwood-Bahr earned an individual trip to the national race by finishing ninth (21:05.2) in the Mountain Region Championships earlier this year. Her performance led the Utes to a ninth-place finish in the region, one spot ahead of their preseason ranking. She also led the team with a fifth-place finish (22:21) at the Mountain West Conference Championships, and earned All-Conference First Team Honors in pacing the Utes to a fourth-place finish.

"Elise had an impressive performance today given the wet conditions," states head coach Brian Appell. "She's had a great junior year and will benefit from this experience. She will work on getting into a better position earlier in the race and will have an even better senior year if she accomplishes this."
