Wyoming Cross Country Ends Season At NCAA Regional Championships The Cowgirls placed 12th out of 16 teams in the women's 6k.

Laramie, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming cross country teams ended their 2003 season at the NCAA Mountain Region Championship Saturday in Riverdale, Utah. The Cowgirls placed 12th out of 16 teams in the women's 6k while the Cowboys took 14th out the 14 team field in the men's 10k race. Junior Jennifer Thompson was the Cowgirls top finisher placing 36th overall with a time of 22:33.9, her best time of the season. Junior Natalie Kean was the second Cowgirl to cross the finish line. Her time of 23:14.0 placed her 62nd out of the field of 114 runners. Other UW notables in the women's race were junior Ashley Pedersen (66th, 23:19.5), sophomore Tanice Barnett (72nd, 23:29.7), sophomore Christine Michel (77th, 23:33), sophomore Elena Helmerick (84th, 23:43.1) and sophomore Emerald Reid (86th, 23:45.7). For the sixth time this season sophomore Brian Knight was the first Cowboy to cross the finish line, his time of 32:30.9 took 44th place in the field of 96 total runners. Sophomore Ragen Driver finished 72nd with a time of 33:38.3. Sophomore Brian Harnisch (34:07.9), senior Jason Delaney (34:12.6) and junior Kyle Cheesebrough (34:16.8) finished 81st, 82nd and 83rd respectively, and freshman Jason Sanders rounded out the UW runners with a time of 35:25.8 for 92nd place.
UW's harriers will now prepare for the 2003-04 indoor
track and field season which begins on Dec. 13th with the
programs annual intrasquad meet.
