Rebels Wrap Up Season
UNLV ends year at NCAA West Regionals at Stanford.

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The UNLV women's cross country team finished 30th at the NCAA West Regional Championships at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday afternoon, ending the Rebels' season. UNLV was led by true freshman Jenni Shearer, who finished 151st with a time of 23:36.2, marking the seventh-straight meet she was the Rebels' highest finisher. She helped UNLV finish with 911 total points at the meet. Stanford won the meet with a total of 24 points, followed by Arizona State with 48, Washington with 117, Oregon with 139 and UCLA with 196 points rounded out the top five. Arianna Lambie of Stanford won the individual title, covering the 6k course in a time of 12:29.3. Four top-30 teams were at the meet, including host-No. 2 Stanford, No. 5 Arizona State, No. 21 Oregon and No. 26 Washington are part of the 31-team field. Stanford has now won the last seven NCAA West Regional women's titles and nine of the past 10. Other finishers for UNLV included Ali Ainsworth (185th, 24:52.5), Leta Rose (194th, 23:35.5), Katie Hughes (197th, 25:51.7) and Desarae Tyson (199th, 28:01.6) In each regional race, the top two team finishers and top four individuals not on a qualifying team automatically advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Lavern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind. Another 13 at-large teams and two at-large individuals will be added to the 31-team, 255-runner men and women's fields on Nov. 13 by the NCAA Championships selection committee. At-large team selection criteria is based on teams' head-to-head records against other actual and potential NCAA qualifiers.
