PORTLAND, Ore. - UNLV cross country finished 30th at the NCAA West Regional, held Saturday morning at Blue Lake Park in Gresham, Ore. The meet was hosted by the University of Portland.

Sophomore runner Jenni Shearer paced the Rebels, finishing 170th with a time 25:18.93 on the 6K course as UNLV concluded the meet with a team total of 882 points.

Number-one ranked and meet favorite Stanford won its eighth straight West Regional state, with a team total of 42 points. The Cardinal was led by Arianna Lambie, who won the individual title in a time of 20:58.85. Fellow teammate Kathleen Trotter came in second with a time of 21:12.19.

Ali Ainsworth was next for the Rebels with, finishing 179th with a time of 25:34.29. She was followed by Gabriela Benito (181, 25:46.45), Laura Lundin (191, 27:00.01), Desarae Tyson (196, 28:47.75) and Ernestine Johnson (197, 29:11.21).

The West Regional was one of nine regional meets with qualifying teams advancing to the 2006 NCAA Championships on Nov. 20 in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's 6,000 meter race will begin at 12:00 p.m. (PST) followed by the men's 10,000 meter race at 1:15 pm at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
