Zarndt Makes a Run at NCAA West Regionals Rebels' top harrier places 40th at national qualifying meet.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Hoping to qualify for the 2001 NCAA Cross Country Championships, UNLV junior distance runner Jessica Zarndt clocked in a time of 23 minutes, 1.60 seconds Saturday afternoon at the NCAA West Regional Championships hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
Participating as an individual, the Las Vegas native finished 40th among a field of 165 runners representing the west region, which is home to the nation's top distance teams and harriers.
In order to make qualifications, all individual runners had to place in the top 25 in their region, to qualify for the postseason meet on Nov. 19 at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
In team competition, top-ranked Stanford won the women's side with 39 points, while Arizona and Arizona State followed in second and third place respectively.
