SAN DIEGO, Calif. - UNLV women's cross country finished eighth at the Mountain West Conference Championships held at Balboa Park's Morley Field in San Diego, Calif., on Saturday morning.

Senior Michele Suszek was the Rebels' highest finisher as she crossed the finish line of the 6k course 18th place with a time of 23:18.

BYU swept the first three places to win the team title with 24 points. Cougar senior Laura Turner the individual title with a time of 21:23 and teammates Rena Chesser (21:49) and Heidi MaGill (22:01) finished second and third.

Colorado State came in second as a team with 59 points, followed by Wyoming with 97 points, Utah had 118, Air Force finished with 121, New Mexico had 163, San Diego State finished with 192 and UNLV rounded out the meet with 224.

Also scoring for the Rebels were Sarah Loughlin (56th, 26:24), Ashley Pierce (57th, 26:37), Samantha Serrano (58th, 26:50) and Erin Hammond (59th, 26:58). Other runners for UNLV included Leta Rose who finished 60th (27:11), Katie Hughes who came in 61st (27:20) and Heather Walsh who crossed the finish line in 62nd place (27:31).

UNLV continues its season at the the NCAA West Regional held in Fresno, Calif., on Nov. 13.
