Women Finish Second, Men Third At MWC Championship
Nicole Feest Finishes Third Overall

The Colorado State women's cross country team, currently ranked 24th in the nation, finished second at the Mountain West Conference cross country Championship this afternoon, while the men's team placed third. The women scored 44 points, narrowly losing to perennial champion BYU, which tallied 35 points. The men's team scored 88 points, behind BYU (27) and Air Force (76). Senior Nicole Feest paced the women's team for the third straight competition, finishing third overall, clocking a 21:14.1 for the six-kilometer course. Junior April Thomas was sixth in 21:24.3, while sophomore Kirsten Anthony and senior Danielle Korb finished 10th and 11th, respectively. Junior Heather Loseke rounded out the scoring in 14th with a time of 22:07.8. Also finishing for the Rams were freshman Renee Mayer in 26th and sophomore Ashlee Velez in 27th, while sophomore Kirsten Hemphill was 41st and Alison Taylor was 42nd.
Senior Rob Watson was the top finisher for the men's team for the first time this season, finishing eighth overall with a time of 25:05.5 for the 8-kilometer course. Sophomore Jeremy Freed placed 16th and senior Ryan Kirkpatrick was 18th and Andres Urbina was 20th. Senior David Zakavec crossed the line in 27th, while sophomore Steve Swartz was 35th, senior Nelson Palacios was 38th and sophomore transfer Kip Taylor finished 41st. Feest and Taylor were named to the Mountain West All-Conference First Team, while Anthony, Korb and Loseke were named to the second team. For the men, Watson was named to the all-conference second team. Colorado State will compete at the NCAA Regionals in two weeks in Albuquerque, N.M., hosted by the University of New Mexico in hopes of earning a bid to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 20 in Terre Haute, Ind.
