2009 Flyin' Frogs Breakdown On The Track TCU will open its indoor season at Texas A&M in December.
Oct. 15, 2009
FORT WORTH, Texas - Flyin' Frogs head coach Darryl Anderson sat down with GoFrogs.com this past week to give fans an inside look into how practice has gone during preseason workouts. This is the third installment of Anderson's weekly look into preseason workouts. TCU will open the indoor season on Dec. 12 at the Texas A&M Invitational.
Breakdown I think Whitney Gipson has really stood out to me lately. For whatever reason, she has changed her work ethic. She is working extremely hard everyday and I have been impressed with what she has been doing. She is a really talented girl that will help our program for many years. She gets my attention everyday and is starting to become a leader for us. On the men's side, Mychal Dungey just continues to keep ticking away at this thing. We are waiting on him to blossom and really do some great things for us in the sprints. Those two in particular are really doing an exceptional job for us in the sprints and jumps. The other thing that has really stood out to me is group dynamics at practice. I think the groups have really stuck together this year and are helping each other out so much. Part of that is because of the youth we have on this team, particularly on the women's side. Those girls have really stuck together and trained together quite well. We don't have anybody causing havoc or dissension on the women's side, which has been really good. Our men's team is really mature which has really helped our freshman Charles Silmon. He is kind of on an island as the only freshman in the sprint group, but he is mixing in quite well and has handled it like he is an upperclassman, which has been great to see. Clint Renfro is another guy that has been great so far. We are six weeks into this thing and he is doing really well. He hasn't missed a day yet, which is a shout out all amongst itself. He is very talented and will be able to do some great things for us. In the throws, Cameron Tabor has really worked hard. His work ethic is not one of a freshman, which is awesome. The group dynamics of the girls has been great so far as well. Stormy Harrison, Kelsey Samuels and Sara Talley have really been getting after it and I have been impressed with that. We feel good about where we are at right now. We have a meet in December this year, which is kind of odd, but the kids are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel because of it. We are not that far away from going down to College Station, so the kids are really motivated and excited. It has been great for us to have that meet in December, so they can see where their training is going.
