COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Nine Mountain West Conference member institutions were honored as 2010 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced.

The BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico men's track & field teams were among the 73 Division I men's programs to be named a 2010 All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA. The Cougars carried a 3.24 grade-point average throughout the season, which was tied for the 14th-best team GPA in the country among Division I institutions. The Lobos and Rams tallied respective marks of 3.19 and 3.02 to collect the honor.

On the women’s side, six MWC programs earned 2010 All-Academic Team status. New Mexico recorded the 36th-best GPA among 151 Division I women's teams with a cumulative score of 3.35. CSU claimed the accolade with a combined GPA of 3.30, as did BYU, which turned in a 3.24 GPA for the year. Wyoming (3.19), TCU (3.12) and UNLV (3.07) rounded out the award recipients.

To be nominated for Division I All-Academic Track & Field honors, a team must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade-point average. In 2009, seven MWC programs (BYU men and BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico, TCU, Utah, Wyoming women) earned All-Academic status.
