COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Four UNLV women's track and field student-athletes were named to the 2002 Mountain West Conference All-Academic team Wednesday.

Junior Jessica Zarndt, a distance specialist and local native from Cheyenne High School, led the squad with a 3.84 grade-point average majoring in kinesiology. Three freshmen were also honored for their classroom achievements.

Rookie hurdler Brigitte Ladouceur (Cayenne, French Guiana) completed the 2001-02 school year with a 3.16 GPA as an undeclared major, while distance runners Tiffany Sims-McCray (Houston, Texas, 3.22 GPA, undeclared) and Jennifer Turk (Newbury Park, Calif., 3.47 GPA, kinesiology) rounded out the Rebels' academic all-conference selections.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
