COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The Air Force track and field program had 34 of its members represented on the 2004 Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference Team for the spring term. The men's team placed 19 on the list, while the women's team recorded 15.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the institution, be a starter or significant contributor to the team and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade-point-average (GPA).
In addition, five men and 11 women earned 2003-04 MWC Scholar Athlete Awards. This award is given out annually to student-athletes who have completed at least two semesters (or three quarters) at the institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50, or better, and competing in at least one varsity contest in their respective sports. The track and field members who earned that distinction are recognized with an asterisk (**).
Sophomore Matt Hellier also earned scholar-athlete honors, but was not listed on the spring academic all-conference list, as were freshmen Libbie Van Pelt and Caroline White.
