SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
Former Aztec standout Miesha McKelvy-Jones finished ninth in the semifinals of the 100-meter hurdles Sunday afternoon at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Sacramento, Calif.
McKelvy-Jones, who needed to place in the top four in her heat to advance to the finals, took fifth with a time of 12.87 seconds, a mere .06 seconds behind fourth-place finisher and finals qualifier Ebony Foster. Melissa Morrison won the heat with a 12.67 clocking.
Aztec Hall of Fame member Marla Runyan also competed on the final day of the Olympic Trials, but did not finish in the 1,500 final. A 1991 SDSU graduate, Runyan already earned her second consecutive trip to the Summer Olympic Games after placing second in the 5,000 meters in 15:07.48 on Mon., July 12.
