Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference has announced its Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors for the sports of men's and women's track & field. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed one academic term at the member institution, maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor.
Sixty-one male and eighty-six female student-athletes qualify for the academic all-conference team in the sport of track & field. On the men's side, BYU leads the way with 23 honorees and Colorado State follows with 16, Air Force received eight men's selections, New Mexico and Wyoming tallied five each and Utah totaled four honorees. On the women's side, BYU again leads the selections with 21. Colorado State equaled the number of men's selections with 16 women and Air Force is right behind with 15. The University of Utah follows with 12 female honorees, New Mexico totaled nine, San Diego State and UNLV notched five women each and Wyoming added three.
