INDIANAPOLIS - Former San Diego State track and field standout Tonette Dyer advanced to the semifinals in the 200-meter dash at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Dyer, a four-time All-American who owns the school record in the 200, clocked in with a time of 23.25 seconds to place second in her heat. Her runner-up effort automatically qualified her for the next round and was one of 16 to move on.

Another former SDSU athlete, Nicole Ireland, also competed in the 200, but was unable to advance to the semifinals after she finished the race in 24.03.

Dyer will look to earn a spot in the finals tomorrow as the semifinals will commence at 12:15 p.m. EDT. The championship round of the 200 is set for later in the day at 2:30 p.m. Live results are available on the US Track and Field website, http://www.usatf.org/events/2007/USAOutdoorTFChampionships/schedule.asp?group=open.
