SALT LAKE CITY-Utah senior Brooke LoBue has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America Track and Field Third Team for her success on the field and in the classroom. LoBue earned a bachelor's degree in deaf education (3.86 GPA) from Fresno State before transferring to Utah. She graduated this past May with a master's degree in deaf education from the U. During her graduate work, LoBue upheld a 3.92 GPA.

The Visalia, Calif., native won the pole vault with a jump of 3.96 meters, 12' 11.75" feet, at the recently held Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships. During 2003, she broke her own school record and set an NCAA Regional qualifying mark at the BYU Invitational by clearing 3.97m, 13' 00.25". She went on to finish 10th at the NCAA West Regional Meet.

During her two years at Utah, LoBue has been named all-MWC during both indoor and outdoor seasons. She was also named academic all-MWC in 2002 and '03. She was academic all-WAC in 1999 and 2000 while competing at Fresno State.
