NEW ORLEANS - The Mountain West Conference had 17 student-athletes earn All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, last week.

Overall, there were 10 men and seven women All-America honorees. On the men's side, Air Force's Nick Frawley earned All-America honors after finishing tied for second-place in the pole vault, while New Mexico vaulter Robert Caldwell placed sixth to earn the award. BYU's Leif Arrhenius and Colorado State's Jason Schutz were both honored for placing fourth and sixth in the discus throw, respectively, while Lobo harrier Jeremy Johnson earned an All-America certificate for placing seventh in the men's 10,000-meter run. TCU student-athletes rounded out the pack with Mychal Dungey placing ninth in the 200-meter, Joe Brown finishing 10th in the javelin and the Horned Frog 4x100-meter relay team made up of Andon Mitchell, Justyn Warner, Dungey and Otis McDaniel, placing seventh.

San Diego State's Stephanie Bagan (pole vault) and New Mexico's Katie Coronado (javelin) topped the women's list, each earning second-place in their respective events. Emily Pearson and Katie Lloyd, both competing for Colorado State in the heptathlon, earned All-America recognition placing 10th and 13th, respectively, while fellow Ram Janay DeLoach took sixth in the women's long jump to collect the accolade. BYU runners Angela Wagner and Carlee Clark-Platt were each awarded for finishing sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and seventh in the 800-meter run, respectively.
